I so appreciate your haiku. Years ago during a very stressful time, I happened to be teaching my ESL students from China haiku. I was using it as a foundation to determine their comprehension of the material we’d been studying. It was great for vocabulary & syllabification & stimulating discussion. It turned out to be an outstanding oral midterm exam. All that to say, as I spoke to a friend about my personal stress, I said, “I should turn all this shit into haiku!” I did, and it made it far more manageable—and continues to in the grand mess we’re in.
