Same. Having been a teacher myself, this one is particularly distasteful. Ugh.

My kids rely on the tools the DoE provides and some of the most impactful people in my life have been teachers/educators

Exactly. Next comes the free libraries. What would they like teachers to do? Turn on the computer and ask AI? That’s exactly what students have resorted to and the loss of critical thought is mind boggling. I mean, it’s not surprising, but HELLO. Teachers are becoming baby sitters: stripped of their ability to fight any of the systems. The morale is so incredibly low already - I don’t envision a world in which eager students would want to put forth the effort to become a teacher anymore after all this. It was one of the hardest things I ever did. And I’ve had some very challenging jobs. We need PBS and DOE. At. The. Very. Least.

My daughter like myself & most of my family don’t learn like everyone else. We need to study & read a lot to earn our knowledge. AI will destroy the need to learn. We have all become great readers & have emerged as well rounded educated humans. We are all creative, smart but we get there with a different approach. I had to fight for my daughter to learn and to get what ever extra help was available.

She had gotten hit by a car in middle school involving head trauma. She needed assistance in high school. I had to fight to get her the help she needed. Without the support of the special Ed program she would not have achieved as much as today. They said she could not attend college. Well she got her bachelor degree & she had been working since in good jobs.

Removing the help that was federally mandated to assist children with learning needs would be a terrible. We are all one accident or illness away from losing the opportunity to live a full life.

This dictatorship that is currently in the White House has to go!!!

We all need to March , VOTE 🗳️, write our representatives to do the right thing & fight this dictatorship!!!

Thank you for sharing your and your daughter’s story. That is what this impacts. It hurts all of us and in ways so many don’t yet know.

Stay loud, stay peaceful, and stay in their faces!

I taught Special Ed. That’s exactly right. Not everyone learns the same way and your daughter needs a different kind of attention. Unfortunately, mixing all the students together in one room for a set time period is what is hurting all the students. I feel for your daughter.

They, who ever they are, started tearing at education a few decades ago. Those of us who taught at the university level saw it every year. Students didn’t want to do the same level of work we assigned five years earlier.

They are putting the nails in education’s coffin.
