Right now, no changes are made to the actual rules on IEP or 504 plan enforcement; however, it is now going to be fully state-by-state on it soon…so states like mine, Arkansas, will probably get rid of the protections as soon as they can to “save money”.

I’ll keep tracking and updating on this story.

My son has a 504 so this affects us too. I’m just glad he goes to a wonderful charter school that I know will continue to work with us despite scotus being stupid and dismantling these protections.

I'm glad you have that protection for now, it may not last when the charter school isn't required to provide those protections. In my opinion, that's what will happen in places like Arkansas, where our Governor doesn't care and will eliminate any protections she doesn't deem "necessary" for a functional factory community.

Are the services at no cost at your charter school? I ask as 20 years ago my grandson attended a charter school and such services were a personal expense for the family.

The 504 plan is free. But things may change with the scotus ruling. I’m in Texas and I wouldn’t be surprised if Abbott follows and takes away protections from our kids.

IEPs are essential to keep in Dept. Of Education on the Federal level. Giving things back to states is madness. Some states require sitting on school systems who deny IEP placements and plans. Seems education is woke and woke is bad. Good heavens. This will unravel in the worst way. I could not believe that SCOTUS could be so unlawful.
